New tanker “Samenza” for Ruijven B.V. delivered after successful sea trial at Concordia Damen

On 22 December, Concordia Damen and Ruijven successfully conducted the sea trial of a new CDS Tanker 135. The Samenza is the 23rd vessel in Ruijven’s diverse fleet and has now been officially delivered. Designed by Concordia Damen, the vessel is equipped with a dual piping system and cargo heating installation. With the Samenza, Ruijven B.V. has once again chosen Concordia Damen as its shipbuilder for the third time. As usual, the shipyard in Werkendam delivered the vessel in close cooperation with outfitting partner CCM3 and many trusted suppliers and partners.

Ruijven operates a diverse fleet of tankers, coupled vessels and push boats. Co-owner Robert Boere strongly believes in providing continuity for customers:
“That is something we truly stand for. We operate a diversified fleet, enabling us to serve a wide range of clients.”

His colleague Rick Ruijtenberg adds:
“We don’t like to say no. What appeals to us about Concordia is that they actively think along in finding solutions and aim to be a reliable partner – and they truly are.”

The vessel
The Samenza measures 135 x 11.45 metres and has a cargo capacity of 3,612 tonnes at a draught of 3.30 metres. The optimised design has already proven itself extensively and offers an excellent speed–power ratio due to the vessel’s low hull resistance. Propulsion is provided by two CAT C32 engines (2 × 709 kW). The propellers are supplied by SIP Marine and the bow thruster by Veth.

What makes the vessel particularly special is its dual piping system, which allows Ruijven to transport two different products simultaneously, providing a high degree of operational flexibility. In addition, a Heatmaster cargo heating system has been installed, which is used, among other things, to prevent crystallisation or deterioration of products such as mineral oils.

Bart van Driel, Project Manager at Concordia Damen, comments:
“We would like to thank Robert Boere and Rick Ruijtenberg for their trust in our organisation. Personally, I found this a very rewarding project and enjoyed working together with the Ruijven team. We are all proud here at the yard to have built another CDS 135; it confirms that this design truly adds value to Dutch inland shipping. Of course, I would also like to thank our regular partners.”
