Alphenaar christening ceremony

On 4 May 2019, ms Alphenaar was christened in Werkendam.

The Alphenaar measures 90 meters in length, 10.5 meters in width, and has a maximum draft of 3.8 meters, with a carrying capacity of 1850 tons. This allows the ship to transport 104 TEUs or 52 full beer containers, which equates to approximately 2,500,000 bottles of Heineken beer. The full beer containers will be transported between the Alpherium in Alphen aan den Rijn and the seaports of Antwerp and Rotterdam.

The vessel is specially designed to maximize container capacity within the limitations of the Gouwe waterway. Through an innovative design of the hull and propulsion system, the ship can operate with lower power, significantly reducing CO2 and particulate emissions, ultimately aiming for zero emissions in the long term.

The Alphenaar christening was celebrated with, of course, a Heineken beer!
