Concordia Damen delivers tanker ‘Gambler’ to inland shipping company Gambler Shipping B.V.
Concordia Damen has successfully delivered a CDS Tanker 135. Last week, the vessel—fully designed by Concordia Damen—completed its sea trials with success, after being outfitted at the Concordia Damen shipyard in Werkendam by long-standing outfitter CCM3 and several trusted suppliers and partners.
The MTS Gambler measures 135 metres in length and 11.45 metres in width and is designed for the transport of mineral oils. It boasts an impressive loading capacity of 4,180 m³. Thanks to its proven and optimised design, the vessel sails with minimal resistance and features a favourable speed–power ratio. Propulsion is provided by two reliable CAT C32 engines (2 x 709 kW), ensuring low fuel consumption.
Karel Jan van de Pol, captain-owner of Gambler Shipping BV, says:
“I’m very pleased with our new vessel. This marks a new chapter for our company. We operate on the European inland waterways and starting next week, the Gambler will embark on its first transport. I chose Concordia Damen for our new build because of their team’s personal approach. They listened carefully to my wishes—both technically and regarding the accommodation. That is our home, so it needs to feel like one. Another reason was that these ships have already proven themselves in practice, and Concordia builds them from stock, which meant a shorter delivery time for us. The cooperation with the yard and CCM3 was smooth, efficient and pleasant, and we look forward to the first voyages.”
Nico de Bie, Project Manager at Concordia Damen, adds:
“We thank Karel Jan van de Pol and his partners for their trust and cooperation, and we wish him a safe and prosperous journey. Every successful delivery strengthens the reputation of our CDS 135-metre series as a reliable, efficient and future-proof design—and we and our partners take pride in that. It’s great to see another Werkendam-built tanker entering service on the European inland waterways.”
