Concordia Damen signed contract to build two next-generation river cruise vessels for TUI River Cruises

Concordia Damen is proud to announce that it has been awarded a contract by TUI River Cruises for the construction of two new CDS River Cruise 135 vessels. Designed in-house by Concordia Damen, the vessels have been developed in close cooperation with TUI River Cruises and tailored to the company’s specific operational and guest requirements.

The order marks another important milestone in the long-standing expertise of Concordia Damen in designing and building innovative inland passenger vessels. The two new river cruise ships will be built with sustainability and future-proof operations at their core. In addition to an optimised hull design that contributes to lower fuel consumption and improved efficiency, the vessels incorporate a range of advanced technological solutions and are prepared for the future use of methanol as an alternative fuel.

Each vessel will feature 94 cabins and accommodate up to 188 guests, offering a modern and comfortable onboard experience. Specifically designed for the UK market, the ships will operate within TUI River Cruises’ growing European network.

The contract supports TUI River Cruises’ ambitious fleet expansion programme. By 2028, the company will operate ten river cruise vessels across some of Europe’s most popular waterways, including the Rhine, as well as the Nile and the Douro.

Construction of both vessels will take place at Concordia Damen, with delivery scheduled for 2028.

TUI River Cruises officially announced its fleet expansion during the christening ceremony of TUI Aria in Frankfurt, highlighting its continued investment in modern, sustainable river cruising and its commitment to meeting growing customer demand.
